STA
The first step you’ll need to take to become a fully qualified swimming teacher with STA is The Award qualification.
The STA Award will develop your vocational skills and technical knowledge, so you can independently teach your own class of 12 participants from non-swimmers, beginners or improvers (children and adults).
The next step to progress as a swimming teacher is to retain your swimmers by offering advanced lessons, extended skills and advanced awards with the STA Certificate.
STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming
This is the Swimming Teachers Association qualification enabling you to teach non-swimmers, beginners, improvers and advanced strokes (Swim England stages 1-7). This is a five-day course covering practical and theory elements, with a tutor- assessed workbook and an externally assessed swimming lesson and multiple choice exam. Learners must be at least 16 years old, but no prior knowledge is needed. Candidates will, however, require STA membership.
The cost for this course is £430.
